Temptation – Watch And Pray – 2024.02.25

Mark 14:38 (KJV) Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.
Temptation is a given. It will come. Because our body the flesh is weak. Thanks be to God for He provided us a way to escape!
So we need to be ready. Here we see how to ready ourself so that we will not give in to it.
We need to be watchful, that means to be alert.
We need to know the devils schemes and the weaknesses of our flesh.
We need to pray as in Matthew 6:13 (KJV) And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
One thing I discovered is that watching and praying requires us to submit to God as in
James 4:7 (KJV) Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
We need to be totally submitted to Jesus as He totally submitted himself in the garden “Matthew 26:39b (NKJV) … “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”” Then Jesus Christ will give us the strength when we are weak to resist the devil and as we resist, in the power of the Holy Spirit, the devil will give up for a time. He will look for another opportune time when we are not submitted to God.
We are not meant to fight our fight alone. So let us encourage one another to keep submitting to God, to watch and pray. Let us pray for one another not to be lead into temptation but delivered from the evil one as the Lord directed us in Matthew 6:13.
