Jeremiah 9:12-16 (KJV)
12 Who is the wise man, that may understand this? and who is he to whom the mouth of the LORD hath spoken, that he may declare it, for what the land perisheth and is burned up like a wilderness, that none passeth through?
13 And the LORD saith, Because they have forsaken my law which I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice, neither walked therein;
14 But have walked after the imagination of their own heart, and after Baalim, which their fathers taught them:
15 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with wormwood, and give them water of gall to drink.
16 I will scatter them also among the heathen, whom neither they nor their fathers have known: and I will send a sword after them, till I have consumed them.
Psalms 95:8-11 (KJV)
8 Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
9 When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work.
10 Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:
11 Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.
When we walk according to the dictates of our own heart (doing what we want instead of what God wants) we will as a result are not obeying Jesus and stop wanting to read, study and hear the word of God.
Doing this results in the hardening of our hearts, going astray in our hearts and rebellion.
If we do that we ignore and forget His word/ways.
This results in judgement and chastisement.
Hebrews 12:5-6 (KJV)
5 And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him:
6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
God gives us opportunities to repent and walk with Him again.
The best thing is not to harden our hearts, go astray in our hearts and rebel.
As we studied on Saturday in our gathering, let us stay close to the Lord, keep our hearts soft, encourage each other, pray for on another, stay in the Word of God, hearing His voice and do that is says in the beginning of Psalms 95:1-7 instead of what it says in the end (which we read above)
1 O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
3 For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.
4 In his hand are the deep places of the earth: the strength of the hills is his also.
5 The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.
6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.
7 For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice, ….
