Example Of Unified Prayer – 2024.04.03

Acts 4:23-31 (KJV)

23 And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.

24 And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:

25 Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?

26 The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.

27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,

28 For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.

29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,

30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.

31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

Continuing on the theme of persecution let’s look at an impromptu prayer meeting of the early church that was initiated by persecution.
Peter and John shared what happened when they were brought Before the Council.
As a result of hearing this, they cried out to the God in unity.
Telling the LORD what happened and using Holy Spirit inspired scripture in their prayer.
Their prayer was for boldness and sings and wonders.

What we learn from this about prayer is that we:
• Can have prayer together whenever needed.
• Should share what the situation is that we are praying about.
• Need to be in total agreement and unity in what we are praying.
• We tell God what has happened.
• All can pray at the same time in agreement.
• Use relevant Holy Spirit inspired scripture in our prayer.
• Are not to pray for persecution to stop but for boldness to share the gospel and make disciples.
• Are to pray for the LORD to perform healings, signs and wonders as we share His word in boldness.
• Are to expect to be filled by the Holy Spirit resulting in bold witnessing for Christ.

Let us encourage one another to gather together (in person, over the phone, online, …) in unity to pray at set prayer times and when needs arise.

Matthew 18:19-20 (KJV)

19 Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.
