John 5:24 (KJV) Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
All who believe in Jesus Christ, He gives them eternal life and are not condemned. This is because He paid the price for sin on the cross. How do we believe to receive everlasting life? In the world people often say “seeing is believing” but this is a lie because that is not faith “Hebrews 11:1 (KJV) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”. Believing starts by hearing the Word of God as Jesus said here in verse 24. In Romans Paul explains about the Word of God being declared, heard, believed, and acted on:
“Romans 10:8-17 (KJV)
8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Hearing and believing doesn’t stop when we call on the LORD but it becomes and ongoing part of our life as we grow in Jesus Christ.
With every message to the seven churches in Revelation chapters 2 and 3 the LORD ends with at least these words “Revelation 3:22 (KJV) He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.”
Let us open our hearts to Him, who speaks, and not refuse Jesus and turn away from Him, “Hebrews 12:25 (KJV) See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:”
Therefore let us put ourself in a position where we can hear the Word of God clearly with humility being taught by the Holy Spirit that we might grow and become more Christ like. “John 14:26 (KJV) But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”.
“John 17:17 (KJV) Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.”
