John 17:17-18 (KJV)
17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
Let us continue on with sanctification from yesterday (Go up to the mountain – 2024.05.08 https://missioncommunities.network/2024/05/08/go-up-to-the-mountain-2024-05-08/)
Here we see that the Word of God is truth.
The Word is also Jesus and Jesus is GOD the son
“John 1:1 (KJV) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
And Jesus Himself is the truth and only way to come to and be reconciled to GOD the Father “John 14:6 (KJV) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
What does this has to do with sanctification? Jesus himself prayed in verse 17 for our sanctification and that it be done via the Truth, via the Word of God. Therefore it is Jesus Christ Himself who sanctifies us. As we saw yesterday sanctification is a process and is accomplished by the washing of the Word. The washing of the word sanctifies. “Ephesians 5:26-27 (KJV) That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” And in “Romans 12:1-2 (KJV) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Jesus blood cleanses us from our sin “1 John 1:7 (KJV) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” Now He wants us not just to be clean but live clean to represent Him. It is now our aim to follow Jesus and therefore be more like Him. That requires us to bear the fruits of the Holy Spirit as we saw yesterday. So we need to let our mind renewed and start thinking more like what the bible says (this is the washing of the Word).
This comes by asking the Holy Spirit to teach us and us listening, reading, meditating, remembering, applying the Word of God. This is done by our daily discipline and the gathering of the saints as GOD has designed our place in His body and that we need each other to grow and support each other as we go and do His work.
Therefore let us encourage each other as it says in
“Micah 4:2 (KJV) And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.”
