“Psalms 142:2 (KJV) I poured out my complaint before him; I shewed before him my trouble.”
In the Psalms we frequently see David complaining to GOD. There is nothing wrong about that but we should not remain in that state. Just like David we should then move from focusing on our troubles to focus on the LORD. “Psalms 142:5 (KJV) I cried unto thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.”
Focusing on who He is and that He is able to change things.
“Psalms 142:6-7 (KJV) Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I. 7 Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name: the righteous shall compass me about; for thou shalt deal bountifully with me.” Here David prayed instead of being overcome by his persecutors to be surrounded by godly people.
David was not the only one we can see this right through the scriptures like in Lamentations 3:1-20 Jeremiah complaint about his situation even blaming GOD and how the LORD is against him i.e. “Lamentations 3:2 (KJV) He hath led me, and brought me into darkness, but not into light.”
But then he also shifts to looking who GOD is and what He will do to deliver and save.
“Lamentations 3:21-26 (KJV) This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. 22 It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. 24 The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. 25 The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. 26 It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.”
He also acknowledges his on fault and sin that brought himself into trouble paying its consequences which caused grief.
“Lamentations 3:31-32 (KJV) For the Lord will not cast off for ever: 32 But though he cause grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies.”
Note this does not mean that every trouble we go through is caused be caused we have sinned. Here are two of many examples “John 9:3 (KJV) Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.” And in “2 Corinthians 4:8-9 (KJV) We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;”
In conclusion in
“Lamentations 3:39-42 (KJV) Wherefore doth a living man complain, a man for the punishment of his sins? 40 Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the LORD. 41 Let us lift up our heart with our hands unto God in the heavens. 42 We have transgressed and have rebelled: thou hast not pardoned.”
When we are in difficulties let us examine ourself, cease from complaining, turn to the LORD and repent of any sin calling on the name of Jesus Christ our LORD from our troubles because He will hear our cry and redeem our life.
“Lamentations 3:55-58 (KJV) I called upon thy name, O LORD, out of the low dungeon. 56 Thou hast heard my voice: hide not thine ear at my breathing, at my cry. 57 Thou drewest near in the day that I called upon thee: thou saidst, Fear not. 58 O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life.”
