Romans 1:16-17 (KJV)
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Gospel means “good tidings” a “good message”
The gospel of Christ is the good message of Jesus Christ and it is the power of GOD that brings salvation to all who hear and believe.
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Gives us good summary of the gospel of Christ and our responsibility to receive it, believe it and hold on to it firmly.
“1 Corinthians 15:1-4 (KJV) Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”
We see in Romans 1:16-17 that through the gospel of Christ the righteousness of GOD is revealed. It shows us that through the gospel we can live by faith, fully trusting GOD for our salvation. That faith is on Jesus Christ who is LORD of lords and KING of kings and what He did on the cross. The gospel needs to be shared, and believed. It has the power to impart faith and save. The requirements of the gospel is to obey it, that is believing in it and as result act on it.
“Romans 10:13 (KJV) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
“Romans 10:16-17 (KJV) But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Let us be confident and fully assured that the gospel is the power of God to salvation.
“1 Corinthians 1:18 (KJV) For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”
