Matthew 4:1 (KJV) Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.
Jesus was told before this by His Father, after His baptism, “Matthew 3:17 (KJV) And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
Have you ever noticed that when GOD tells us something, sets us apart and we make a new commitment to follow Jesus or hear and respond to a call from GOD, to consecrate ourselves, decide to make major changes in our life in obedience to the Word of God, then enemy of our soul comes trying to abort it. Jesus said “John 10:10 (KJV) The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” – be ready to do as in “1 Corinthians 16:13 (KJV) Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.”. Let us not be robbed from what GOD has called us to. Jesus has come to give us life so let us not be robbed by: fear, doubt, circumstance, lies, deception, our flesh, feelings, words spoken, what we hear… and instead “James 4:7 (KJV) Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”.
Jesus stood firm and when the devil deceptively misquoted the Word of God, He stood firm submitting Himself to the Father quoting the Word of God correctly. He resisted the the enemy “Luke 4:13 (KJV) And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.”. Therefore know that when we do not falter the enemy will leave and will look for another opportune time to try again. This can be again in a time like this or in a time of weakness.
“Ephesians 6:10-13 (KJV) Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
