Seeking Kingdom of God and the cost – 2024.05.26

Matthew 13:45-46 (KJV)
45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
46 Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
The LORD Jesus promised “Matthew 7:7-8 (KJV) Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”. When we really seek GOD, we are guaranteed we will find the way to Him. “John 14:6 (KJV) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” GOD will reward the seekers and reveal the gospel to them. Usually  He will send someone to share the gospel, but there are also others ways He does that. There are testimonies of people stumbling across a bible and reading it, angels or even Jesus Christ appearing. One such example is Paul: “Acts 9:3-6 (KJV) And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: 4 And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? 5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. 6 And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.”.
Paul was zealous for GOD but going in the wrong direction even persecuting christians. So the LORD intervened. Then through this encounter the LORD sent Ananias to minister to Paul.
Finding the Kingdom of God – coming to Jesus has a cost. The cost is everything we have including our life. We are not our own anymore. We belong to GOD, our creator. Actually we always did belong to GOD but were in a state of rebellion and enmity and coming to Jesus Christ we have again been reconciled to GOD.
In Matthew Jesus is telling us about the cost of following Him: “Matthew 16:24-26 (KJV) Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. 26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?”. We are to abandon our ways, desires, possessions, the way we think, our identity, everything to Jesus. He is to become LORD and KING of our life and what He says goes.
This is a challenge for us every day “Luke 9:23 (KJV) And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”. Every day we have to decide to follow Jesus Christ walking in self denial.
Let us encourage each other to keep on following Jesus Christ. He has paid the ultimate price for us because He loved us so much that He did not want us to pay the prince for our sins ourself as this would cause us to end up in hell for eternity “Romans 5:8-11 (KJV) But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.”
