Proverbs 27:1 (KJV) Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
We have no idea what tomorrow brings unless the LORD reveals it to us. Therefore our attitude to what is to come should be in humility and trust towards GOD.
He is the one who is ultimately in control and knows the beginning from the end. He knows our thoughts before we even know them.
In James 4:13-17 (KJV) it talks much more about boosting about tomorrow, “Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: 14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. 15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. 16 But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. 17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”
We can make plans but we need to place them into GOD’s hands and submit to His will. “Proverbs 16:9 (KJV) A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.”
When we make major decisions about tomorrow we should consult the LORD and not be anxious about it “Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV) Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” and “Psalms 119:105 (KJV) NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”. We gain counsel and guidance from the Word of God. Also there be times where we need to seek counsels from wise, respected and godly people of GOD “Proverbs 11:14 (KJV) Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.” “Proverbs 24:6 (KJV) For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.”.
If we know to do what is right and don’t do it we are actually sinning. Thank God that when we miss the mark we can come to Jesus Christ and ask for forgiveness and try to hit the mark next time “1 John 1:9 (KJV) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Therefore whatever we plan to do we should commit and submit to GOD and His will for our life. He is the one who is in control and knows what is best for us.
Let us say “If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that”.
