Deuteronomy 15:7-8 (KJV)
7 If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother:
8 But thou shalt open thine hand wide unto him, and shalt surely lend him sufficient for his need, in that which he wanteth.
The LORD wants us to be a blessing and not a curse. His desire is for us to freely lend to the poor bother or sister in the faith of what they need if it is in our ability to do so.
In 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 (KJV) it tells us the way to give “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. 7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” It is all a matter of the heart and our heart needs to be willing to give. Giving is not just about money, it is using the gifts that GOD has given us to bless others “Matthew 10:8b (KJV) … freely ye have received, freely give.” In Proverbs 19:17 (KJV) we discover that “He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.”
In Deuteronomy 15:10 (KJV) reiterates and brings together 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 and Proverbs 19:17 “Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto.”. Through all this we are also a witness to the world “John 13:35 (KJV) By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”
Father GOD help us to not only to look out for our own interests but also the interest of others (Philippians 2:4) and be generous demonstrating Your love to our brothers and sisters. In Jesus Name, Amen.
