Brief Instructions to live by – 2024.06.29

2 Corinthians 13:11 (KJV) Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.
Here are some brief instructions that cover a lot of area and are repeated in the Word of God many times. Therefore they are very important. One thing to know is that we in ourself can not obtain this but only via Christ in us can we bear these fruits. This things are not achieved immediately but are progressive as we undergo the process of sanctification.

We are instructed to:
• Be perfect. Jesus said in Matthew 5:48 (KJV) “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” We are to be perfect in character, goodness, etc. as GOD is.
• Be of good comfort “2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (KJV) Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; 4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.” This can also be translated as “be encouraged” and also looked at in two ways: One being encouraged and comforted ourself as well as Giving encouragement and comfort to others. Have a look at “Comfort – 2024.06.22 https://missioncommunities.network/2024/06/23/comfort-2024-06-22/” for more about comfort.
• Be of one mind. This relates to being in unity and as well as being Christ minded which again results in unity. The  “1 Corinthians 2:16 (KJV) For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.” we have the mind of Christ and need to make it evident we need to let the Holy Spirit through the Word of God renew our mind “Romans 12:2 (KJV) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
• Live in peace. “Matthew 5:9 (KJV) Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.” “Romans 12:18 (KJV) If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.”. We are to bring and make peace. His peace comes by His presence “Matthew 10:12-13 (KJV) And when ye come into an house, salute it. 13 And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.”

In Ephesians 4:11-16 (KJV) it is written “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: 16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.” This shows us that put us in His body the church, of which He is the head of, to help us grow and be come more like Him.

In the Warren W. Wiersbe commentary explains the last few verses, in 2 Corinthians 13, this way “The church is a miracle, and it can be sustained only by the miracle ministry of God. No amount of human skill, talents, or programs can make the church what it ought to be. Only God can do that. If each believer is depending on the grace of God, walking in the love of God, and participating in the fellowship of the Spirit, not walking in the flesh, then he will be a part of the answer and not a part of the problem. He will be living this benediction — and being a benediction to others!
Ask God to make you that kind of Christian.
Be encouraged — and then encourage others.”

One very important thing we need to know and can be fully assured of is that “the God of love and peace will be with you.”
