Song of Solomon 8:7 (KJV) Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned.
Love is un-quenchable and it is priceless. How then can we receive and give love? For love to be received it first needs to be given and when it is given it needs to be received instead of rejected. Ultimately love is a gift from God. It is not a commodity that can be sold and bought. Trying to buy love like here by giving everything we own is a despised thing especially before GOD. GOD’s love can not be bought. He gives it freely and we need to receive it freely.
“John 3:16-18 (KJV) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” “Romans 5:17 (KJV) For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)”
How then do we receive GOD’s gift of love and salvation? From the above we see that GOD gave and that we need to believe in Jesus Christ and the good news of what He did on the cross for us. In Romans chapter 10 it is explained as follows:
“Romans 10:9-13 (KJV) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
