1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 (KJV)
13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
What is described here we call the rapture. It is for those who are in Jesus Christ, which is everyone who believes in the gospel of Christ, His death and resurrection for the salvation/redemption/….. of the believer.
It is the time when Jesus Christ calls us who are alive home. He will descend to the sky (clouds) where everyone who is in Jesus Christ will meet Him. That is, those who died and those who are alive.
There will be a great shout, the trumpet of GOD will be blown calling the believers (dead and alive) to gather in the clouds.
This could be the time our flesh, the earthly body of the living and the dust of the dead, will be transformed to a heavenly body, fulfilling “Philippians 3:21 (KJV) Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.” And also have a read of 1 Corinthians 15:35-49 which gives us a detailed description.
When we look at the terrible times we live in we are to find comfort in this that we will be taken before GOD’s wrath will be poured out (see “Waiting for the Rapture” https://missioncommunities.network/2024/08/03/waiting-for-the-rapture-2024-08-03/).
We can also find comfort for those who have fallen asleep (died) that one day will meet up again with the LORD and it will be glorious.
Therefore let us not forget that this day is coming, let us be ready to be found having faith in Jesus Christ following Him, living a life pleasing to the LORD (1 Thessalonians 4:1-12) let us encourage and comfort one another with these words.
