Mystery of godliness – 2024.08.13

1 Timothy 3:16 (KJV) And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
Godliness was a mystery and is now revealed through Jesus Christ. “Colossians 1:26-29 (KJV) Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints: 27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: 28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: 29 Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.”
The “Bible Knowledge Commentary” clearly explains the 6 elements of Jesus Christ ministry and its outcomes:
“the six elements of the excerpt are as follows: (1) Appeared in a body refers to the Incarnation of Christ. (2) Was vindicated by the Spirit refers to God’s demonstration through the Resurrection (cf. Act 2:24-36), by the Holy Spirit (cf. Rom 8:11), that the crucified Jesus is Lord and Messiah. (3) Was seen by angels refers to His exaltation before the heavenly realm (cf. Php 2:9-11; Col 2:15; Heb 1:6). (4) Was preached among the nations (cf. Col 1:23) and (5) was believed on in the world refer to the progressive fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan through His preordained means (cf. 1 Cor. 1:18-2:5). (6) Was taken up in glory refers to the Ascension (Eph 4:10). ”
“The “mystery” of the church, however, does not mean that Gentile salvation and blessing was unforeseen before Christ (cf. Luk 2:29-32; Amo 9:11-12). The mystery was not that Gentiles would be saved but how they could be “fellow-heirs” (Eph 3:6 1, KJV), on the same level with Jews, with no middle wall of partition between them (Eph 2:12-14). In the Old Testament Gentiles who believed and became a part of Judaism were still considered lower than Jews. This special union in which there “is neither Jew nor Greek” (i.e., Gentile, Gal 3:28) was nonexistent before Christ died and the Spirit descended to baptize all believers into this new body. (For a list of other NT “mysteries” see the chart near Mat 13:10-16.) ”
Let us rejoice together in that Jesus Christ has revealed Himself and made the way that we can now be reconciled to GOD. That Jesus work and sacrifice on the cross is complete, perfect and through His blood He washes us from our sins if we believe in Him! “Revelation 5:11-13 (KJV) And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; 12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. 13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.”
