2 Timothy 2:23-26 (KJV)
23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
We all who are in Jesus Christ are His followers and servants. I believe these instructions are for us not only within the church but also apply to our interactions with everyone. There are so many people deceived by and in bondage of the devil both in and outside of the church and the LORD GOD wants to use us to show the truth. “John 8:32 (KJV) And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
To do this, we are to avoid foolish and ignorant disputes as all they do it cause strive. When we share the Word of God and the gospel we are to do it in a gentle manner not causing quarrel. This is all done with the humility of Jesus Christ. Yes, we will encounter opposing opinions but how they are handled is very important. In this meekness is essential. It is a lack of vanity or self-importance which comes from humility, modesty, …
It is also important that we are able to teach the Word of God. This is part of our calling. See “Every believer is called for the great commission – 2024.08.12 https://missioncommunities.network/2024/08/12/every-believer-is-called-for-the-great-commission-2024-08-12/”. What better way is there to learn and practice this then when we gather together?
In the end it is totally up to the LORD to grant people repentance, that is to reveal Himself through the Word of God we share casing people turn turn form their own ways to believe in and start following Jesus.
Let us be encouraged to learn by the Holy Spirit to be good witnesses and teach the Word of God in this manner.
