Hebrews 13:1 (KJV) Let brotherly love continue.
Here the LORD encourages us to keep on loving. His love is steadfast (see “GOD’s steadfast love – 2024.09.10 https://missioncommunities.network/2024/09/01/gods-steadfast-love-2024-09-10/”) and therefore does not end. It continues. Our own humans love is not constant, it is influenced by feelings and situation. It is conditional. But GOD’s love is totally unconditional. The only we we can love like He loves is by the Holy Spirit. “Galatians 5:22-25 (KJV) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, [23] Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. [24] And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. [25] If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”
Here we find the key on how we can continue loving despite of what we feel, what the situation is and without any conditions. It is by walking in the Holy Spirit thereby letting Christ’s love shine through us. It is a decision to crucify our own flesh and not go by our feelings, or what we hear and see but by the Word of God and the leading of the the Holy Spirit. We bring our flesh, carnal nature into submission to Jesus Christ. “Luke 9:23 (KJV) And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”
Therefore let us be encouraged to keep on walking in Christ love.
