A people of GOD continued – 2024.09.14

1 Peter 2:11-12 (KJV)
11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
12 Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
To continue of from yesterday devotion “A people of GOD – 2024.09.13 https://missioncommunities.network/2024/09/13/a-people-of-god-2024-09-13/”.
When we become His people we don’t belong anymore to this world, we are just traveling through it to a better place “Hebrews 11:16 (KJV) But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city., … Hebrews 11:25 (KJV) Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season;” (have a read of all of Hebrews 11). Because we do not belong anymore to this world and are not in the Kingdom of God we are to life by a different standard. We are not to live according to the desires of the flesh but according to the Holy Spirit who we received when we were born again. We are not encouraged to conduct ourself in a way that honours the LORD Jesus Christ. Yes, there is a war of the flesh against our soul but the LORD Jesus Christ is giving us the strength and helps us when we face temptation as we submit to Him “1 Corinthians 10:12-13 (KJV) Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. [13] There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.“ and “James 4:7 (KJV) Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”.
Therefore be encouraged to now let the Holy Spirit sanctify us through the washing of the Word of God and walk in GOD’s ways giving Him all the glory.
