2 Samuel 7:29 (KJV) Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.
Have a read of the whole chapter seven in 2 Samuel. When GOD spoke to David by the prophet Nathan, that not he but his son will build the temple and that the house of David, his kingdom and his throne will be established forever, what did David do?
- He humbled himself with a thankful heart “2 Samuel 7:18 (KJV) Then went king David in, and sat before the LORD, and he said, Who am I, O Lord GOD? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?”
- He worshiped and “2 Samuel 7:22-23 (KJV) Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears. [23] And what one nation in the earth is like thy people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and terrible, for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee from Egypt, from the nations and their gods?”
- He prayed, for GOD to do exactly as He has promised
Therefore be encouraged when the LORD GOD speaks to us and gives us promises we should have the same attitude as king David had. Let us be thankful, in awe of His mercy and grace, stay humble and walk in humility before GOD and His people not exalting ourself. Let us give all glory, praise and worship to Him. Let us ask GOD to do what He has promised on an ongoing basis reminding Him of His promises. “Hebrews 10:23 (NKJV) Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.”
