Mark 11:20-26 (KJV)
20 And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.
21 And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away.
22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
After Jesus Christ found no fruit on the fig tree He cursed it. “Mark 11:12-14 (KJV) And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry: [13] And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet. [14] And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.”.
Here we see the result. It was dried up. There are many lessons about the fig tree and prayer here but today let us look at the lesson of faith continuing on from the last six devotions.
We are encourage to have faith in GOD. Noting is impossible for GOD. “Mark 10:27 (KJV) And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.”.
Jesus Christ being GOD gave us a lesson of faith which is essential in prayer as we read in verse 24 ”Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”. Our prayers are to be offered in faith and faith is “Hebrews 11:1 (KJV) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”. When we have faith in something there is no doubt about it. We are 100% assured. There is no wavering as we saw yesterday “Prayer and fasting – 2024.11.04 https://missioncommunities.network/2024/11/04/prayer-and-fasting-2024-11-04/”. To have such a faith we need to know what the will of GOD is because if He wills it will be done. “1 John 5:14 (KJV) And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:”. If we ask against His will we ask according to our own desires but when we walk in the Holy Spirit, His desires will be our desires.
Therefore it says in Romans 12:1-2 (KJV) “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. [2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”. Our mind need to be renewed in through the Word of God. When we hear the Word of God faith comes “Romans 10:17 (KJV) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
Therefore be encourage today to have faith in GOD by put yourself in a place to hear, read, and study the Word of God. By sitting at the feet of Jesus and gathering together under the Word of God. “Luke 10:38-42 (KJV) Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. [39] And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word. [40] But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. [41] And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: [42] But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”
