Remembering the Word of God – 2024.11.24

Psalms 119:11 (KJV) Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.
Be encouraged today to aim to know, understand and memorise the Word of God. This is one of our great weapons to fight against temptation, just like Jesus Christ did.

When Jesus Christ was tempted in the wilderness he use the Word to counter the trickery and deception of the devil. For example “Matthew 4:3-4 (KJV) And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. [4] But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”.

Paul tells us in Ephesians 6:10-18 (KJV) “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. [11] Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. [12] For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. [13] Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. [14] Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; [15] And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; [16] Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. [17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: [18] Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;” Here we see in verse 17 that we use the Word of God in the fight in offensively against the devil and his demons. We use the Word of God in conjunction with the other parts of amour of GOD which is used for protection and defence.
