Psalms 119:105 (KJV) NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
GOD has given us His written word (the Bible) and His living word (Jesus Christ). He uses His word to lead us in the right path. One can think of His word being like a manual of life, like we have manuals for things that a a bit complicated to operate like electronic equipment and cars. GOD gives us a choice to heed His word or to ignore it. If we heed it problems later on can be avoided, like not topping up the radiator of a car with coolant. Imagine what happens when the coolant is not enough to keep the engine cool.
So the advice for us to follow GOD’s manual for life like the psalmist wrote in Psalms 119:101-102 (KJV) “I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word. [102] I have not departed from thy judgments: for thou hast taught me.”
GOD’s word is like a lamp unto our feet meaning it shows us where to place our foot for a secure next step. Sometimes it can be like a spot light when Jesus Christ reveals us things that are way in the future but the way to that spot with all its obstacles can not be seen clearly. Then we use the bible in conjunction to the guidance and revelation given to us by the Holy Spirit to guide each step and then we will reach the spot that the LORD has shown us safely through whatever obstacles and difficulties we might encounter on the way.
Therefore be encouraged to every day use GOD’s word as our guide with the attitude of “Matthew 6:10 (KJV) Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.” Just like Jesus Christ prayed “Luke 22:42 (KJV) Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.” This will help us to stay away from every evil way and stay on track.
