What makes you glad? – 2024.12.05

Psalms 122:1 (KJV) A Song of degrees of David. I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.

What makes us glad? We need to examine our hearts by letting the LORD examine us, to see what motivates us and if it does not align with GOD’s ways we need to cry out to the LORD to change our hearts.
“Psalms 26:2 (KJV) Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.”

David loved the house of the LORD and the gathering of the saints so much. It brought Him great joy. He was so glad that other too wanted to go in to the lords presence with him. The fellow believers did not just say go (you go) but let us go. Gathering together is not an activity for an individual it is a corporate activity. It is something with do together:

  • It address our spiritual, emotional and physical needs.
  • Gathering around the table of the LORD,
  • Remembering Jesus Christ and the work on the cross.
  • Feasting on the Word of God as revealed by the Holy Spirit.
  • Sharing food that also nourishes our bodies with each other.
  • Encouraging and being encouraged.
  • Exhorting and being exhorted.
  • Sharing and carrying each others burdens
  • Praying together.
  • Worshiping Jesus Christ our saviour.
  • Being prepared to be His witnesses.

“Colossians 3:16 (KJV) Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

“Hebrews 10:23-25 (NKJV) Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. [24] And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, [25] not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Therefore be encouraged to look forward to, be glad to gather together and encourage each us to to do this, as it says in Micah 4:2 (KJV) “And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.”
