Psalms 127:1-2 (KJV)
1 A Song of degrees for Solomon. Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep
In the world there is a concept of being a “self made man”. That goes totally contrary to the Kingdom of God. It might sound good, look good and even work for some time till in the end it is all in vain, it will fall apart and fail GOD’s judgment. Being self made requires intense effort and not getting enough sleep by: watching, thinking, worrying, scheming all night. It requires striving. People say there is not rest for the wicked which is true and comes from “Isaiah 57:20-21 (KJV) But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. [21] There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.”
We should cease from building with our own strength and let GOD build His house. It is the LORD GOD who builds people “Matthew 4:19 (KJV) And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” We just need to follow (instead of trying to lead GOD). He has come to give us peace and rest. “John 14:27 (KJV) Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”, “Isaiah 26:3 (KJV) Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.”. There is no need to strive in the Kingdom of God. It is GOD who is working in our life’s and we just have to surrender and let Him. “Philippians 2:13 (KJV) For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”. Let us rest in His promise as He himself gives His beloved sleep.
Therefore be encourages to let GOD be GOD. Let us be Christ made instead of self made. Let Him build. Let Him work in our life’s and whatever good works we do in His strength through His grace by the power of the Holy Spirit. “Ephesians 2:8-10 (KJV) For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast. [10] For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”. This we do by what it says in Luke 9:23-25 (KJV) “And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. [24] For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it. [25] For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?”
