A humble attitude – 2024.12.14

Psalms 131:1 (KJV) A Song of degrees of David. LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me.
Let us be encouraged today not to:

  • Desire what belongs to others but be content with the portion the LORD has blessed us with. “1 Timothy 6:6 (KJV) But godliness with contentment is great gain.”
  • Look down with contempt on those who are not as well off as we are or are in a lower social status. “Colossians 4:1 (KJV) Masters, give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven.”
  • Meddle with, trying to understand and trying to explain things that are above us (our ability to comprehend). There are great matters in the:
    ◦ Natural realm that we can not understand or do. People have different abilities and gifts. Some people can understand nuclear physics in depth and others can not. Some people are given gifts to be musical others are not. Some are more athletic. Some things we can learn with hard work. In the end everything comes form GOD and let us to the ability given by Him. “1 Peter 4:10-11 (KJV) As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. [11] If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”
    ◦ Spiritual realm that even for mature believers are past fining out they are too high to be understood. We need to understand GOD is GOD, we are created and there will always be things past finding out. “Psalms 139:6 (KJV) Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.”. There are things the LORD will reveal to us by the Holy Spirit, but only hose that are necessary. “1 Corinthians 2:13-16 (KJV) Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. [14] But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. [15] But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. [16] For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.”.
  • Associate with those of higher social status in order to gain privileges. Let us instead associate with those who are humble.”Luke 14:12 (KJV) Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee.”. “Proverbs 14:20 (KJV) The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.”. “Romans 12:16 (KJV) Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.”

Therefore, let us always walk in humility and live a godly life knowing that “James 4:6 (KJV) But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.”
