1 Chronicles 29:9 (KJV) Then the people rejoiced, for that they offered willingly, because with perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD: and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.

Giving to GOD willingly and freely is and results in great joy. As we can see it is a heart attitude “with perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD”. Therefore giving starts with the heart and ends with joy of having done accordingly. “2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (KJV) But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. [7] Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. [8] And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:”

Jesus Christ himself demonstrated this by giving Himself. “Ephesians 5:2 (KJV) And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.”, “Hebrews 12:2 (KJV) Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Our heart can only be made perfect through faith in Jesus Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit. It is GOD’s love that compels us.

Therefore be encouraged when you give to give not out of compulsion but willingly out of a perfect heart and you will be rewarded with joy.
