2 Chronicles 33:12-13 (KJV)

12 And when he was in affliction, he besought the LORD his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers,

13 And prayed unto him: and he was intreated of him, and heard his supplication, and brought him again to Jerusalem into his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the LORD he was God.

Have a read of 2 Chronicles 33:1-20.

Here is a short summary. When Manasseh started his rulership he turned 180 degrees from GOD and what his father did. He caused wickedness to increase in Judah.

“2 Chronicles 33:1-2 (KJV) Manasseh was twelve years old when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem: [2] But did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, like unto the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.”

GOD warned him and gave a chance to repent.

“2 Chronicles 33:10 (KJV) And the LORD spake to Manasseh, and to his people: but they would not hearken.”

This brought chastisement and judgment on him. This finally caused him to repent and turn 180 degrees back to the LORD.

“Hebrews 12:6-7 (KJV) For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. [7] If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?”

Therefore let us be encouraged to know our GOD and when we sin that He will speak to us and show us the way to walk. Let us not to harden our hearts and like Manasseh so that we can avoid the chastisement. “Hebrews 3:14-15 (KJV) For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end; [15] While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.”

Instead let us heed His voice and turn back to walk in His ways.

Thank GOD that He is so merciful and He gives us other chances to turn back to Him like He did with Manasseh, but let us not rely on this by being stubborn in our sin but to come before Him asking us to change our heart like David did.

“Psalms 51:9-13 (KJV) Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. [10] Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. [11] Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. [12] Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit. [13] Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.”
