Psalms 40:11 (KJV) Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.
Be encouraged today that when we face things like described in Psalms 40:12-13 (KJV) “For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me. [13] Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.” We can call on the LORD Jesus Christ to preserve us from them. Being preserved is to not be impacted by what is happening. Being preserved it to last.
Part of the definition in the free Dictionary is:
- To keep from injury, peril, or harm; protect.
- To keep in perfect or unaltered condition; maintain unchanged: fossils preserved in sediments; a film preserved in the archives.
- To keep or maintain intact: tried to preserve family harmony.
- To prepare (food) for storage or future use, as by canning or salting.
- To prevent (organic bodies) from decaying or spoiling: preserved the specimen in a chemical solution.
One way He preserves us is through His lovingkindness and His truth. He is the truth and brings to light what is not true – it exposes the darkness. Jesus Christ said “John 14:6 (KJV) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”.
His lovingkindness is what motivates Him to have mercy on us, to save us, to forgive us, to deliver us and to help us.
Therefore let us call out to Him and trust in His lovingkindness and truth knowing that He will preserve us.
