My Shepherd – Psalms 23 Part 1 – 2025.03.22

Psalms 23:1-6 (KJV)
1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Today let us be encouraged and know with one hundred percent certainty that the LORD Jesus Christ is our shepherd. When we know this we will not be in constant want like the world.
“Matthew 6:31-33 (KJV) Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? [32] (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. [33] But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. ”

Instead we will be content no matter what is going on.
“Philippians 4:11-14 (KJV) Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. [12] I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. [13] I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. [14] Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction.”

We can fully trust Jesus Christ as He is the good shepherd. He knows what we need and takes good care of us. He gave Himself for us on the cross. What an amazing love He has for us His people, His sheep.
“John 10:11 (KJV) I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.”
“John 10:14 (KJV) I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.”
Because He is both LORD and our shepherd we hear His voice and listen to Him. We will not listen to those who try to mislead us.
“John 10:3-5 (KJV) To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. [4] And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. [5] And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.”
