Psalms 23:2a (KJV) He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: …
He places us in green pastures and settlers us there. There we find all the nourishment we need. It is green and lush. We have a responsibility in the pastures to eat the grass He provides. If we do not eat we will loose out, not because of Him but our refusal to eat. The result is that we would be starving, become unhealthy and potentially die of hunger and therefore not grow. If we eat we will grow and be healthy, well nourished.
I believe the green pastures also stand for the Word of God, besides provision of what we need to live here on earth. Jesus Christ places us in a position where we can eat of His word, that is to: hear, read, learn, study, meditate on, share, receive, partake of, memorise, … the bible. By doing this we will grow in Jesus Christ and becoming more like Him.
Let us be encouraged today and know that the LORD Jesus Christ takes good care of us and provided us His word so we can grow. Let us remain where He laid us down so we can continue to grow in Him through His word.
We will find: hope, faith, wisdom, direction, counsel, revelation, truth, understanding, … In His word. This will also enables us to share the what we have received with others to help them grow as well.
“Ephesians 5:26-27 (KJV) That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, [27] That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”
“Romans 12:1-2 (KJV) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. [2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
“Hebrews 10:23-25 (KJV) Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) [24] And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: [25] Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”
