Anoint my head with oil – Psalms 23 Part 20 – 2025.04.14

Psalms 23:5 (KJV) Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

The anointing of oil on the head speaks of at least three things:
We looked briefly at the anointing of the Holy Spirit at the kingly anointing in the last two devotions. Today we will will see how the anointing of the oil (Holy Spirit) brings joy. In
Isaiah 61:3 (KJV) it is written “To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.”

Therefore let us be encourage that GOD’s anointing gives us joy. This joy is irrespective of what we feel, see or are going through. “1 Thessalonians 1:6 (KJV) And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:“. Jesus Christ Himself went to the cross wit the joy set before Him, that many will be brought back into relationship with GOD through the sacrifice on the cross,
“Hebrews 12:1-3 (KJV) Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, [2] Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. [3] For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.”
Let us run that race, being anointed by GOD and filled with the Holy Spirit, and rejoice in the LORD for He has saved us.
