One of the tactics of deception – 2025.05.02

Genesis 3:1-8 (KJV)
1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

The devil uses many ways trying to deceive us and separate us from GOD.
Here he first puts doubt on what GOD said. He asked “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?”. By this he twists the word of GOD. Because GOD said: “Genesis 2:16-17 (KJV) And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: [17] But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”.

When the devil start this we should avoid getting in a conversation with him. Instead we should:“James 4:7 (KJV) Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”. But Eve answered and added “neither shall ye touch it”.

Then after sowing doubt and seeing a weakness and willingness to engage He sows more doubt and totally contradicts what GOD said with half truths.

When we fall in the devils trap and sin against GOD we have a tendency to hide. Instead of hiding we should instead: “1 John 1:9 (KJV) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Therefore let us be encouraged as it says in James to keep submitting to GOD and He will empower us to resist the devil. We need to be on the alert, keep being steadfast in faith, resisting temptation. In the end GOD will use what the devil meant for evil to perfect us, to establish us, to strengthen us and establish us more and more in Jesus Christ.
“1 Peter 5:8-11 (KJV) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: [9] Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. [10] But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. [11] To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.”
