Proverbs 23:4-5 (KJV)
4 Labour not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom.
5 Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.

Yesterday we looked at working hard and today we are looking at overworking. There is a difference between the two. Overworking is working more than what is needed to life a good life. It is working with the aim of becoming rich. Riches do not last forever as we can see in verse 5 of this proverb and also in James 1:10-11 (KJV) “But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away. [11] For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.”

Therefore be encouraged to cease the striving to become rich. Let us love the LORD more than riches. “Matthew 6:24 (KJV) No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”. It is the LORD who will bless our work. Let us be content with our wages. “Luke 3:14 (KJV) And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.”
If we can not make ends meet ask the LORD to provide, give us wisdom in what to do and do our part by obeying and working hard in whatever He give us to do.
“James 1:5 (KJV) If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”
