Psalms 90:12 (KJV) So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
We are encouraged here to number our days because that will help us to grow in wisdom which will help us to come to believe in Jesus Christ and from that point on walk right before and in obedience to the LORD.
When we number our days we realise that:
• We need the Holy Spirit to teach us to do that “John 14:26 (KJV) But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”,
• We have a limited time here on earth and realise how few they are,
• We need to be humble “James 4:6 (KJV) But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.”,
• We grow in wisdom and that start by fearing (respecting, being in awe of, …) the LORD, “Psalms 111:10 (KJV) The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.” Here is a great explanation on the fear of the LORD https://youtu.be/4B27c8wZEvw?si=G3J8AbX9bbq2zlUL
• We value every day of our lives and spend each one in obedience to Him “Ephesians 5:16 (KJV) Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.”, and
• We aim to use our time here on earth in such a way that it will count for eternity (GODs reward beyond our salvation “1 Corinthians 3:11-14 (KJV) For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. [12] Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; [13] Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. [14] If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.”.
