Acts 10:44-48 (KJV)
44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
Continuing from yesterdays devotion on obedience let see what happens when we obey.
When we are obedient to the LORD, He will cause blessings to come. This blessing if for others and or ourselves depending on the LORD. Here in Acts 10 the people who Peter spoke to where blessed with salvation and the baptism of the Holy Spirit. In turn Peter was blessed to be part of GOD’s work seeing for the first time non Jewish people being saved and filled with the Holy Spirit.
For this to happen obedience was required otherwise everyone would have been robed of the blessing and the LORD. Blessings of obedience are conditional.
“Deuteronomy 28:2 (KJV) And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.”
“Luke 6:46-49 (NKJV) “But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? [47] Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: [48] He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. [49] But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.””
Let us pray. Father in the name of Jesus Christ, help us to discern and recognise your guidance and walk in obedience. We want to be a blessing to those who you send across our path.
