Kept from revenge – 2026.01.28

1 Samuel 25:32-33 (KJV)
32 And David said to Abigail, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which sent thee this day to meet me:
33 And blessed be thy advice, and blessed be thou, which hast kept me this day from coming to shed blood, and from avenging myself with mine own hand.

David wanted to murder Nabal because how he treated David and his men. Abigail the wife of Nabal convinced him otherwise. This was a learning experience for David and he was took the godly advise, he had a teachable heart and was humble enough to receive the correction. He was kept from revenge and committing murder.

So let us be encouraged to not take revenge in our own hands. Instead let us be teachable and humble to receive and take on board godly advise. Tomorrow we will look at what happened next and see that GOD will be the judge.

Let us pray. Father thank you for Your word and teaching us Your ways. Help us to have soft, humble, teachable hearts and listen to advise you bring us so that we will not make grave mistakes. Please forgive us when we have ignored godly advise and sinned instead. We also forgive those who mistreated us and commit them into Your hands. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
