1 Samuel 25:37-38 (KJV)
37 But it came to pass in the morning, when the wine was gone out of Nabal, and his wife had told him these things, that his heart died within him, and he became as a stone.
38 And it came to pass about ten days after, that the LORD smote Nabal, that he died.

Yesterday we saw that the LORD intervened before David could murder Nabal and that David heeded to godly advise from Abigail.

It is the LORD Himself who will avenge. We instead should bless and pray for our enemies.
“Romans 12:19-21 (KJV) Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. [20] Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. [21] Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.”

David learned from this lesson and the next time he had an opportunity to murder Saul, his enemy who was seeking to kill David, he left it in the lords hands. “1 Samuel 26:9-10 (KJV) And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand against the LORD’S anointed, and be guiltless? [10] David said furthermore, As the LORD liveth, the LORD shall smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall descend into battle, and perish.”

Therefore let us be encourage and believe that the LORD GOD Almighty Himself will judge and execute justice. He will revenge His people in time. In the mean time He gives opportunity for our enemies to see their error and repent.

Let us pray. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, help us not to take vengeance in our own hands but to leave it in your hands. Help us to instead bless and not curse and pray for those who persecute us. To be more like you showing grace and mercy, giving people time to mend their ways.

“Matthew 5:43-48 (KJV) Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. [44] But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; [45] That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. [46] For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? [47] And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the publicans so? [48] Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.”
