Matthew 4:4 (KJV) But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

There is food for the body and food for the soul and spirit. It is important for our bodies to receive nutrition otherwise it will slowly stop functioning resulting in physical death. This is the first death.

Good intended that His word is food for us.
His word:

• Produces faith. “Romans 10:17 (KJV) So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”.
• It cleanses and renews our mind “Ephesians 5:26 (KJV) That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,”, “Romans 12:2 (KJV) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”.
• It helps us to grow in Jesus Christ “1 Peter 2:2 (KJV) As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:”
• It leads us “Psalms 119:105 (KJV) NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”.
• It points us to Jesus Christ and salvation resulting in eternal life “Romans 10:8-13 (KJV) But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; [9] That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. [10] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. [11] For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. [12] For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. [13] For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”.

It is the manual of life which GOD provides for us to live how He has created us to live.
Jesus Christ, Himself, is the living word. We need the word and Jesus Christ for the here and now and to prepare us for eternity. Believing and heading the Word of God has eternal consequences.
If we reject, do not consume and live by the Word of God we will experience the second death.

Therefore be encouraged today to decided to life and or keep on living for Jesus Christ, making sure you partake of His word every day as part of your daily food.

Let us pray. Father help me to hunger and thirst for righteousness so that I will seek You, be fully devoted to You and partake of Your word as my daily spiritual food. Help me to learn how to prepare and feed myself from you word. Let your word guide my every step I take form now on. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen
