Proverbs 13:7 (KJV) There is that maketh himself rich, yet hath nothing: there is that maketh himself poor, yet hath great riches.

Here we can see two comparisons. One about pretending to be rich and another about actual riches (depending on which translation you look at).

Some people who don’t have much but pretend to be well off by their lifestyle, like the car they drive or the clothing they wear, for example. Others who are actually wealthy do not show of their wealth by driving an average car or the clothing they wear, for example. This is a lesson of not judging someone by what we see.

The other comparison is between someone one who is actually rich but is socially and or spiritually poor and the other who does not have much wealth but is rich towards people and GOD. It is easier for those who are poor to be rich towards GOD but it is not impossible for anyone to be rich towards Him.

“Matthew 19:21-26 (KJV) Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. [22] But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. [23] Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. [24] And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. [25] When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? [26] But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.”. https://bible.com/bible/116/mat.19.21-26

Therefore let us be encouraged to always be rich towards GOD no matter on the state of our earthly status and be content with what we have to live in our means.

Let us pray. Father we thank you that you provide everything we need. The most important thing for us is to be rich towards you, so help us to love you more than anything or anyone else and put you and your kingdom first in our life. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
