Proverbs 25:12 (KJV) As an earring of gold, and an ornament of fine gold, so is a wise reprover upon an obedient ear. https://bible.com/bible/116/pro.25.12
For corrections to be effective it requires at least two type of persona:
- A person who is wise is needed to be able to rebuke in the right way. This includes that it is done out of and in love. “Proverbs 3:12 (KJV) For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.” https://bible.com/bible/116/pro.3.12
- Someone who is obedient to the correction. This includes being wise oneself, willing to listen, being teachable and then acting on the wise advise. “Proverbs 12:15 (KJV) The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.” https://bible.com/bible/116/pro.12.15
Therefore let us be encouraged that when the LORD reproves us (either through His word or through wise people) that we will be wise and receive His instructions and act on it amending our ways (repentance)
Let us pray. Father I know that I am not perfect and that You are working in my life with a desire to be more like Jesus. Help me to be listen to the rebukes that will come and not be stubborn but instead teachable and wise. Help me to be obedient and empower me to make the changes that need to be be made so that You will be glorified in my life like gold jewellery. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
