How long till you answer my prayer – 2025.02.15

Psalms 13:1-6 (ASV)
1 For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. How long, O Jehovah? wilt thou forget me for ever? How long wilt thou hide thy face from me?
2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul, Having sorrow in my heart all the day? How long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?
3 Consider and answer me, O Jehovah my God: Lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;
4 Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; Lest mine adversaries rejoice when I am moved.
5 But I have trusted in thy lovingkindness; My heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
6 I will sing unto Jehovah, Because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

There are times when we call on GOD and keep calling and no answers seems to come.
We know that GOD is good and hears when we call on Him. “Psalms 65:2 (ASV) O thou that hearest prayer, Unto thee shall all flesh come.” Hereford the must be a reason for His delay. The reason could vary. One thing we know is that GOD knows best, He sees the beginning to the end. One reason could be here for us to grow in patience and trust in GOD our salvation.

In this Psalm we see that David in the end laid aside his impatience and declared that He trusts in GOD’s loving kindness and has full assurance that GOD will save him by giving Him praise.

Therefore let us be encouraged today no matter how long we have to wait for an answer to our prayer that GOD is increasing our patience and trust in Him no matter what the final answer will be. While waiting let us:

  • Rejoice in His salvation (that we are in His Kingdom, called by His name, that in His good time He will save), “Romans 5:10-11 (ASV) For if, while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, shall we be saved by his life; [11] and not only so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.”
  • Sing praises to GOD who is worthy of all praise, “Hebrews 2:10-13 (ASV) For it became him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the author of their salvation perfect through sufferings. [11] For both he that sanctifieth and they that are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, [12] saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, In the midst of the congregation will I sing thy praise. [13] And again, I will put my trust in him. And again, Behold, I and the children whom God hath given me.”
  • Know what He has dealt bountifully with us already and will do so again. “Matthew 7:7-11 (ASV) Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: [8] for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. [9] Or what man is there of you, who, if his son shall ask him for a loaf, will give him a stone; [10] or if he shall ask for a fish, will give him a serpent? [11] If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”
