No need to be fearful – 2025.03.07

Matthew 8:23-27 (KJV)
23 And when he was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him.
24 And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep.
25 And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.
26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

With Tropical Cyclone Alfred approaching, the wind and rain picking up we are encouraged by these verses that if we belong to Jesus Christ He is with us and in us (in the boat).

“Psalms 121:1-8 (KJV) A Song of degrees. I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. [2] My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. [3] He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. [4] Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. [5] The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. [6] The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. [7] The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. [8] The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.”

He is in control, and we do not need to be fearful. Just by one command He can stop the storm and bring about a great calm. He can protect us from harm in the midst of the storm and we can rest in Him even if the waves cover the boat. “Romans 10:13 (KJV) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Therefore let us all be encouraged that in whatever we face, we can trust and rest in the LORD. The ultimate salvation the LORD has made available to all is from the coming judgement where everyone will be found to have come short of GOD’s requirements (sin) and be cast into the lake of fire. Through the work of Jesus Christ on the cross, His death and resurrection He has provided the sacrifice to pay for our sins if we believe in Him.
“John 3:16-21 (KJV) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. [17] For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. [18] He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [19] And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. [20] For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. [21] But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.”
