Psalms 96:4 (KJV) For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods.
Why are we to proclaim His salvation and declare is glory as we saw in the days before?
It is because as we see here that GOD’s is great.
His greatness deserves to be praised and He is to be feared. To fear the LORD is defined in Job 28:28 (KJV) “And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.”. It is having a deep respect, reverence and awe for God’s power and authority. Rather than causing someone to be afraid of God the “fear of the Lord” leads one to love Him. It is also when we delight in Him and are in awe and transformed by His great mercy, love, grace and kindness surrendering to Him.

How can someone praise and fear GOD if they do not know Him? One needs to start to know Him first. In Romans 10:13-17 (KJV) “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. [14] How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? [15] And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things! [16] But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report? [17] So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

When faith in Jesus Christ comes then we start to know GOD and that knowledge causes us to fear Him in the right way by being in awe and reverence of Him knowing we are totally dependant on Him. “Acts 17:27-28 (KJV) That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: [28] For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.”. This realisation, of who I GOD is and how great He is, leads to praise and adoration of GOD.

Therefore let us be encouraged today to proclaim His way of salvation and declare GOD’s glory by sharing what the LORD has done in our life.
