The only true GOD – Psalm 96 Part 6 – 2025.05.17

Psalms 96:5 (KJV) For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.
There are many so called gods that are worshiped but there is only one true GOD who created everything including you and me.
“Psalms 135:15-18 (KJV) The idols of the heathen are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands. [16] They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not; [17] They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouths. [18] They that make them are like unto them: so is every one that trusteth in them.”

This is another reason why we are to proclaim His salvation and declare GOD’s glory by shoring what the LORD GOD Almighty has done in our life.

Paul, when in Athens, observed the worship of idols:
“Acts 17:16 (KJV) Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was stirred in him, when he saw the city wholly given to idolatry.”.

What did he do about it? Have a read of Acts 17:17-34.
He proclaimed:

  • The truth about GOD who created the heavens and the earth and that He is not like idols (verses 23-31).
  • That we should seek Him (verse 27) of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ (verses 18, 31) and the need to repent and believe in and follow Jesus Christ (verse 30).
  • That GOD will judge everyone (verse 31).

Idols can be anything that we made or that was create that we place before GOD. It can be things like, money, cars, possessions It can also be people or even activities.

Therefore let us be encouraged today to proclaim His way of salvation and declare GOD’s glory by sharing what the LORD has done in our life that people be saved from the deception of other gods.
Also let us flee from idolatry ourself and we can thank Jesus Christ that He provides us with a way out.
“1 Corinthians 10:12-22 (KJV) Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. [13] There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. [14] Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry. [15] I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say. [16] The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? [17] For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. [18] Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the altar? [19] What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing? [20] But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils. [21] Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils. [22] Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?”
