Hebrews 2:1 (KJV) Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

Looking back at the devotion on Maintenance (). We see here that it is so important for us to take heed to what the LORD has shown us to prevent a drifting away from Him.
How do we start drifting and therefore how can we avoid drifting?
One thing is the neglect of reading/studying the Word of God and having prayer on a daily basis as well as gathering together for this with other believers to do the same.
It is easy to drift as there is a current and hard to get back having to paddle back against he current to recover from the drift. “Philippians 2:12-16 (KJV) Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. [13] For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. [14] Do all things without murmurings and disputings: [15] That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; [16] Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.”

Therefore let us be encouraged to keep on taking heed and if we have drifted to know that “Psalms 136:1 (KJV) O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.”. Let us turn back to Jesus Christ and repent of our drifting. “Revelation 2:5 (KJV) Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.”

“Hebrews 2:17-18 (KJV) Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. [18] For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.”
