Proverbs 24:30-34 (KJV)
30 I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
31 And, lo, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.
32 Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it, and received instruction.
33 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
34 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth; and thy want as an armed man.

Continuing on thinking about hard work, and overworking (see links on the end of this) here we discover that when one is habitually lazy poverty is just around the corner.
We discovered that hard work is good but that we should not overwork and not love riches. Not working because one is lazy is the other extreme of overworking with it’s own consequences.

Therefore let us be encourage to work hard and not be lazy. This will glorify the LORD and enables us to be a blessing to those around us, as we discovered previously. If we have a tendency to be lazy, let us seek and ask the LORD to help us change our attitude. Let us be encourages by reading and listening to and obeying the Word of God. What we do is a reflection of our faith.
“James 2:17-18 (KJV) Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. [18] Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.”
