Psalms 42:11 (KJV) Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
This verse is a repetition of “Psalms 42:5 (KJV) Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.”, which means David kept speaking to his soul while being downcast. He reminded himself that there is no reason of why he should be: sorrowful, sad, cast down, gloomy when knows GOD, can pour out his sorrows before Him and have eternal life with Him in heaven.
David’s soul/mind was anxious, uneasy, restless, dissatisfied. So he chose to do the best thing he can do by encouraging himself in the LORD. He reminded himself, while downhearted, to:
- Hope and trust in GOD,
- GOD is well able to heal him emotionally and physically,
- Understand that there is no need to feel like this because GOD is in control,
- Realise that his difficulties will pass,
- That he can praise and worship the LORD GOD Almighty while going through the trail,
- That afterwards he can thank and praise the LORD of his salvation.
Let us be encouraged today to to persist in prayer and encourage our souls by speaking to it not just once but until we start again to hope and trust in GOD. We know that He is our salvation, deliverer, strength, protection, healer and so much more.
“Psalms 18:2-3 (KJV) The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. [3] I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.”
