Psalms 133:1-3 (KJV)
1 A Song of degrees of David. Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
2 It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;
3 As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

What a blessing it is when GOD’s people are in unity of faith. Let us be encourage to make every effort to restore and keep the unity in the body of Christ (locally and in a broader sense). “Ephesians 4:3 (KJV) Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.”.

Unity does not mean uniformity. We all are different parts of the body of Christ and complement one another.None of us can say we have no need of the other. “1 Corinthians 12:18-21 (KJV) But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. [19] And if they were all one member, where were the body? [20] But now are they many members, yet but one body. [21] And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.”

Unity and peace go hand in hand and we all are called to be peacemakers. “Matthew 5:9 (KJV) Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”. This does not mean we compromise on truth. Truth is set by GOD for He is the Truth. “John 14:6 (KJV) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”.

GOD raised up people and gifted them to help in that. “Ephesians 4:11-13 (KJV) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; [12] For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: [13] Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:”

When we gather together and a re in unity of faith GOD, Himself, commands a blessing. The oil speaks of the Holy Spirit and we will be anointed with the Holy Spirit.

Let us pray. Father, help us to foster and keep the unity of faith when we gather together. Gide us and help us to be those who bring unity instead of dissension. Help us to decent the body of Jesus Christ correctly and walk in the fruit of the Spirit letting all our action be motivated by our love for you and one another. In Jesus name, Amen.
