Proverbs 10:22 (KJV) The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.
There are two type of riches.
One adds sorrow the other does does not.
The one that adds sorrow are riches that we covet, strive for and put before GOD. These are riches which posses us or posses and are not willing to let go if GOD requires.
These become idols in our life and distract us from GOD and His purpose.
The other one is blessed by GOD and comes when we first seek Him and His kingdom.
These are riches we have but that do not posses us or posses and we are willing to let go of if GOD requires.
These become tool for the Kingdom of God and will being glory to Jesus Christ.
Actually thinking about this we could say that there are three type of riches. The third is treasures in heaven. “Matthew 6:19-20 (KJV) Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: [20] But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:”
The first two described above will not last but the third will last for eternity.
We can see that in the end it is a matter of where our heart is. Is it with GOD or riches in this world?
Therefore let us be encouraged to trust in the LORD. Not to covet and idolise things in this world for they are temporary but instead as it says in Matthew 6:33 (KJV) to first seek the Jesus Christ, Kingdom of God first, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
He will then provide what we need and give us a stewardship of things which we can have to be a blessing to others and to bring glory to GOD.
“Jeremiah 17:7 (KJV) Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.”
Let us pray. Father in the name of Jesus, I surrender all I have to you. I put my trust in you. Lead me and guide me that my life will glorify you. Help me to lay up treasures in heaven where it counts and here on earth not to be possessed by things or posses things but just have them at my disposal to be a blessing. Amen
