Matthew 6:1-4 (KJV)
1 Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.
2 Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.
3 But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:
4 That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

Continuing on from the last two devotions:

Let us look more at how to give from what the LORD provides to us.
Please note that passage should not be used to prohibit any gift that might be seen by others, because it is virtually impossible to make all contributions strictly anonymous. But this passage simply condemns the blatant display of giving. It is again a matter of the heart. When one gives with the attitude and desire to look good before people, to be praised by them then that is the wrong attitude.

Therefore let us be encouraged to give because we love the person or people we give to and not because we want to look good. Let love compel us.

In Proverbs 11:24-26 (KJV) it says that “There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty. [25] The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself. [26] He that withholdeth corn, the people shall curse him: but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.”. Therefore let us be assured when we give GOD will provide for us more than we need. Withholding will cause us lack. GOD’s economy quiet opposite to the worlds economy. “Matthew 10:8b (KJV) … freely ye have received, freely give.”.

Let us pray. Father we thank you that you are our provider and that you want us to be blessed. Help us to be a blessing to those around us and give freely our of love as you direct us. Let us be a channel of your blessing. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
